I have been drinking tea the way I have been drinking water, lots of it and all the time. Not for health reasons or even for chic or style. I just drank tea, not like the Japanese and their ceremonies, not like the English and their time for tea.  I made them and I made lots of them and drank whenever I could.

The strange thing is I began to feel good inside as though my body was benefiting from all these tea drinking that I was doing. So drinking green tea in large quantities is good for you. I would not be surprised that I would be able to sing again. On the bus from Cebu I sang along to the music on the speakers of the vehicle and I could swear that I was enjoying it.

i never dreamed that it would happen, that I would wake one day to the realization that my music has gone. There was always a song on my lips, a tune in my heart that played no matter what happened to the world. .I cold not remember a time when I did not have a tune humming inside of me. Come to think of it, a tune was always there. When I was young, I took it for granted that I would always have a song in my heart. Riding the bus from Cebu I sat beside a young girl and she was singing along to the songs on the radio. I felt that something had been taken from me because I could not find any song inside of me. The songs that I liked have all gone.

What could have gone wrong? For one thing, asthma has robbed me of the air in my lungs and without any air in those bellowing lungs, nothing could vibrate my vocal chords. No sound would come, much less a song of a tune. Nothing is there and I slowly lost my music. I thought that one day I would be able to sing as well as I ever could, that things would get better. The hope is there but the realization has dashed those hopes in the rocks of reality. What to do?

Pop music stands for popular music. Anything that is popular or enjoyed by the populace could be considered pop music. Could you use this term for music written by Beethoven? I guess not and not because it is classical music but because his music was almost exclusively if not completely exclusively available and enjoyed by the upper crust of society, a segment of the population which could not be termed as the masses. The masses of people were not really privileged enough to have his music on their living rooms.  That is reserved for genteel folk who have the wherewithal to listen to the  music of the master on the occasions and venues that suit their station in life.

Ching's World will have music on its pages. Some things just need to be done first namely, get the tech stuff out that will allow this. Initial tests have not been successful but this is a temporary setback I am sure. Ching's World will have music. As to whether it will become popular is a different matter altogether.

Ever since I could remember, I would always sing out loud especially when I am in an open space where I could let my lungs belt out a song. Once, I was crossing the courtyard of the University of San Carlos Girl' High School in Cebu City and seeing that no one was around except for one man crossing the same empty courtyard, I started to sing "The Impossible Dream" from The Man From La Mancha. My voice rose high and echoed on the buildings that framed the open space. The other man was walking opposite me and when he came close he mentioned that I was a happy man.

There was always a song on my lips but sadly, this is no longer true. Asthma has taken my songs away. I had written many songsin my youth and I do not really know if they are any good since I do not sing them publicly. Many years have passed since then and I have forgotten most of these songs.

Songs are a part of everyone's life. This is probably why they say that music is the universal language and I have never seen anyone dispute that. There are some lucky ones who have wonderful voices but everyone sings I suppose. With the invention of Karaoke, which is a Filipino invention by the way, and made universal by the Japanese, it is not difficult to sing like a professional singer as an orchestra is provided to back up the song. Kara is the Japanese word for "empty" and oke is the word for "orchestra" so, karaoke is a virtual orchestra at your fingertips.

The whole universe vibrates, pulsates constantly. Each star, each planet has its own song. Everything is singing. These songs are not heard by the ears but they resonate in our beings and we are moved by them whether we are aware of it or not.
